It focuses on both self-help and practitioner help to overcome emotional illness, stress, anxiety and, in effect, unhappiness. Brief references to diet are not vegetarian, but alternatives are given.
Why we become depressed and anxious in the first place and what are their symptoms are the opening topics. Explanations are given for normal depression, anxiety, psychotic depression, obsessive compulsive disorders, manic depression (now called bipolar disorder), risk of suicide and why low self-esteem (which we have been educated to base on material possessions). 
Described in the book are:
  • Foods, dietary supplements and herbs that can strengthen the entire nervous system;
